SAN ANTONIO — Nebraska defensive backs coach Brian Stewart is the latest name to surface as the UTSA coaching search moves into its eighth day.
A source confirms that Stewart has interviewed.
Stewart, in his first year at Nebraska, has extensive experience as a defensive coordinator at the college and NFL level.
He was the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007 and 2008.
UTSA coach Larry Coker stepped down on Jan. 5. At the time, UTSA officials said they hoped to find a replacement in 10-12 days.
A UTSA spokesman said in a text message Wednesday that he doesn’t know if an announcement could be made by Friday or whether it could be early next week.
