SAN ANTONIO — Former Kentucky coach Hal Mumme and University of Houston co-defensive coordinator Craig Naivar have advanced into consideration as candidates to get interviews for the UTSA football coaching job, sources said late Friday night.
Sources said it’s possible that UTSA will talk to both during the American Football Coaches Association convention in San Antonio next week.
The convention will run from Sunday through Wednesday.
Initially, names such as Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie of TCU and Major Applewhite of Houston all surfaced after Larry Coker stepped down as coach of the Roadrunners on Tuesday.
