Marcos Curry adapting to new role in UTSA defense

SAN ANTONIO — Last year, Marcos Curry played the weak side linebacker in UTSA’s 4-2-5 defensive alignment.

This year, under a new coaching staff, it’s a little different for one of the team’s best athletes.

Curry said Monday he is playing on the line, in a standing position. He is still listed as a linebacker, but, in effect, he is sort of a hybrid linebacker/lineman.

“What we’re running right now, it’s kind of like the 4-2,” said Curry, who is 5-11 and 220. “But I get to line up on the line with the (defensive) line.
