SAN ANTONIO — The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs didn’t want to let last-place UTSA hang around for too long Thursday night.
Leading by seven at halftime, the Bulldogs hit the home team with an eight-minute scoring flurry to build a 24-point lead en route to an 87-74 victory in Conference USA men’s basketball at the Convocation Center.
UTSA pulled to within eight twice within the last two minutes but couldn’t get any closer, losing its ninth straight.
Guard Alex Hamilton led Louisiana Tech with 25 points, five rebounds and six assists. Merrill Holden and Derric Jean added 16 apiece for the Bulldogs (20-6, 9-4).
