TUCSON, Ariz. — Nikki Long is tied for second place and UTSA is fourth after the first day of the MountainView Collegiate, which got underway on Friday at MountainView Golf Club.
Long carded a pair of 1-under-par 71s and is in a four-way tie for second at 2-under 142 with 18 holes remaining. That quartet is chasing Georgia’s Jillian Hollis, who holds a nine-shot lead after posting an 11-under 66-67—133. Long wrote down six birdies in the opening round and the sophomore from San Antonio Johnson High School added two more in the afternoon.
Aimee Ponte is tied for 15th at 2-over 146.
