Francis Ngannou defeated Ciryl Gane by unanimous decision to unify the UFC heavyweight championship Saturday night in the main event of UFC 270 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Ngannou entered as the UFC champion, while Gane was the interim champion.
All three judges scored the bout for Ngannou: 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46.
Gane used an assortment of kicks and jabs and movement around the ring to frustrate Ngannou and avoid the champion's massive power in the first two rounds.
But Ngannou changed up his strategy in Round 3 and turned to his wrestling skills, landing a big shot to the body and following with a hard slam.
