LAREDO — Inclement weather has shortened the Border Olympics and suspended play in the first round on Friday at Laredo Country Club (par 72/7,375 yards).

Heavy rains overnight forced tournament officials to shorten the event from 54 to 36 holes. More rain in the afternoon halted play in the first round and the tournament will resume at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday.

UTSA is tied with Notre Dame for 12th at 3-over-par, as most players completed about half of the opening round.
