A common sports axiom is that when a team wins big games, it gets more big games.
So it is with the UTEP volleyball team, which enters the marquee week of its non-conference schedule on a roll.
On the heels of winning Idaho State's tournament, the volleyball program's first tournament championship in 10 years, UTEP plays Arizona in Las Cruces Friday afternoon, turns around and plays Northwestern in Memorial gym that night, then hosts New Mexico State on Sunday afternoon.
UTEP, expecting this to be one of best teams it's ever had and already off to its best start since 2011, can send this season on a special trajectory with a good weekend against big-name competition.
