The UTEP women's basketball team has undeniably improved on offense.
Next up is becoming more consistent on defense.
That was their ultimate downfall in a foul-plagued 97-76 loss at UTSA, a game where the Roadrunners shot 48.4 percent from the field and made 31 of 39 free throws. The 97 points allowed was the most the Miners have given up since allowing 98 in the 2013-14 season against Florida Atlantic.
After leading 18-17 through a quarter, the Miners gave up 35 points in the second period, fell behind by 17 at halftime and couldn't string together enough stops to make it competitive from there.
