The UTEP men's basketball team managed to compress all its inconsistency into one up-and-down game against UTSA, and as the Roadrunners' 86-79 victory indicated, there was a bad stretch at the end.
The Miners battled out of an early 17-point deficit and into a second-half lead, but a familiar refrain of missed shots at inopportune times left UTEP 3-6 in Conference USA and saddled with a two-game losing streak heading into Saturday's rematch with UTSA at the Don Haskins Center.
UTSA improved to 4-5.
How it went
After digging a big hole when a 24-5 Roadrunner run put UTEP behind 32-15, the Miners found their legs and were up 53-51 nearing the midpoint of the second half.
