On paper the mismatch is profound.
In a game where UTEP is a 17.5-point underdog against Conference USA champion UTSA, the Miners will try to slow the best passing attack in the league, led by likely soon-to-be MVP Frank Harris, with a pair of cornerbacks in their first and second years of college football.
True freshman Amier Boyd-Matthews and true sophomore Josiah Allen weren’t cast as starting cornerbacks when camp convened in August, but here they are, ready to take their shot at something special.
“If we play our best we believe we can compete against anybody,” Allen said.
