UTEP finally found its tight ends in a 48-32 loss to Middle Tennessee, as David Lucero and Josh Weeks had the best days of their Miner careers.
Lucero caught four passes for 62 yards, plus two unstatted two-point conversions, while Weeks led UTEP with four catches for 71 yards.
"I was excited about the way those guys stepped up and made plays," coach Dana Dimel said. "We wanted to get them involved with what we were doing. That's encouraging. It was nice to get Josh involved; he hasn't been playing much."
30-points club
The Miners scored 30 points in back-to-back games for the first time since November 2016 against Houston Baptist (42 points) and Florida Atlantic (31).
