The UTEP men's basketball team's last stand looked much like the rest of this rebuilding season.
Playing on the road, where they have yet to win, the Miners built a halftime lead against Charlotte, lost it by the midpoint of the second half, then struggled down the stretch in a 68-58 loss that officially ended their hopes of qualifying for the Conference USA tournament.
UTEP fell to 8-19 overall and 3-13 in league play while Charlotte moved past the Miners at 7-20, 4-12.
"We didn't come out with the same energy, urgency in the second half," coach Rodney Terry said.
