The UTEP men's basketball team is good at many things.
To their great detriment, what the Miners are worst at is putting the ball in the net. That makes winning a challenge and despite UTEP's grit, tenacity and defense, they fell to the nation's No. 3 defensive team, North Texas, 52-42 Saturday night in Denton.
The Miners shot 36 percent, made 2-of-15 3s and 8-of-13 free throws (actually better than their season average from the line) and turned the ball over 17 times. After hanging within a point of the second best team in Conference USA at the midpoint of the second half, they fell to 4-6 in C-USA and 11-10 overall.
