UTEP's best women's basketball season in half a decade received a tangible reward Monday when Franklin alum Katia Gallegos was named to the eight-player first team All-Conference USA.
The starting point guard for the second best team in the division, Gallegos emerged as a leading scorer this season while still finishing third in C-USA in assists.
She was UTEP's only selection.
A member of the all-freshman team last year, Gallegos averaged 14.1 points a game this season while dishing out 4.7 assists. She was eighth in the conference in field-goal percentage at 45.
