Wednesday's I-10 rivalry game between the New Mexico State and UTEP women's basketball teams was what a rivalry game should be like.
The Miners and Aggies went toe-to-toe for much of the night before UTEP held off the Aggies, 65-61, at the Don Haskins Center in the first of two matchups. UTEP improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 at home and NMSU falls to 2-4. There were five lead changes and six ties, and both teams overcame deficits in the game to make the game competitive. NMSU led by as much as nine, UTEP by as much as 13.
