Video: UTEP at Conference USA tournament preview Bret Bloomquist, El Paso Times
The UTEP women's basketball team found a sense of the moment just in time to improve their season.
The 11th-seeded Miners, trailing the first 37 minutes and 58 seconds of their Conference USA tournament first-round game against Marshall, needed a desperation buzzer beater from Ariona Gill to force a second overtime. They hit high gear in that second extra period to upset the Thundering Herd, 64-56.
The seven-player team earned a quarterfinal game with well-rested Middle Tennessee Thursday, but Wednesday's win was one they will remember for a long, long time.
