The UTEP women's basketball team is so very close to being a good basketball team, just as it is close to being 5-0.
The Miners, though, are 2-3 after a wrenching 70-69 loss to undefeated Abilene Christian Saturday night, a game when they played the best they have all year but again couldn't make a key play in the final 30 seconds.
As was the case in a two-point loss Friday, UTEP didn't get a good look in the final seconds, as their hot hand, Ariona Gill (22 points), mishandled a pass from Jordan Jenkins inside 3 seconds to play and had to rush a desperation 3-point that barely beat the buzzer and badly missed.
