The UTEP women's basketball team had every excuse for another fourth-quarter stumble Saturday against Old Dominion.
This time, they won't have to use them.
Playing against the best team in Conference USA, Old Dominion, two days after a fourth-quarter collapse against Charlotte attributable to the 10-day COVID layoff, the Miners scored the last five points in the final 65 seconds to earn a 53-48 victory.
The victory snapped Old Dominion's nine-game winning streak and improved the Miners to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in Conference USA. An ODU team that didn't score in the final 2:31 after tying the game at 48-48 fell to 11-3.
