For the first time this year, the UTEP women's basketball dug a hole it could not overcome. In the process, the Miners suffered their first tip-to-tip loss of the season Friday at Charlotte, 62-53.
Playing against another elite Conference USA team, the Miners gave up the game's first eight points to the 49ers, fell behind by 18 at the end of the first half and couldn't save itself with a strong second half.
How it went
A UTEP team that had been competitive in all six of its losses before Friday went a program worst 0-of-14 from the 3-point line and Charlotte got running early.
