This isn't the type of thing basketball coaches talk much about, but the UTEP women head into Sunday's game with North Texas in a nice place.
Their 60-54 victory over Rice in Friday's Conference USA opener gave the Miners the record they wanted, and their offensive struggles gave them the motivation they needed.
Fixing problems is always a more pleasant task after a victory and that's the frame of mind UTEP takes to the always-tricky second road, travel game in a three-day stretch.
"The good thing about (the Rice game) is we did not feel like we played well and we still won," coach Keitha Adams said.
