For one half of its opener against Incarnate Word, the UTEP women's basketball team showed off some frenetic defense and dominant rebounding as it gritted its way to a nine-point halftime lead.
The Miners saved the flash and dazzle for the third quarter and it was a pretty sight.
That was how UTEP began a season of expectations and promise with a comfortable 81-47 victory against Incarnate Word that shows how good they can be on both sides of the ball.
