For three quarters of what turned into an 83-65 Conference USA-opening win for the UTEP women's basketball team, the Miners showed they could survive with spotty rebounding and minimal contributions from Katia Gallegos and Avery Crouse.
Matters sure got easier, though, when they fixed those issues as the second half progressed.
The Miners used a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter, expanding a five-point lead to 19, and rode it home to a comfortable victory.
