The Miners opened up a 10-point lead in the first quarter and held Texas State at arm's length the rest of the game on the way to a 69-57 victory that moved their record to 6-1. This was their first true road game of the year. The Bobcats fell to 6-4.
UTEP led by 17 points entering the fourth quarter and never let the lead go into single figures the rest of the way.
