UTEP made it a clean sweep Tuesday, knocking off Southern Miss in the semifinals and then Charlotte in the finals of the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
UTEP won the stroke play competition Monday, finishing with an 879, four shots better than runner-up North Texas at 883 in the 13-team tournament. UTEP then defeated Southern Miss 4-1 in Tuesday morning's match play semifinals and closed the show with a 4-1 win over Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.
In the championship match Tuesday afternoon, UTEP's Nicklas Pihl defeated Conor Purcell of Charlotte 2 up, UTEP's Charles Corner defeated Charlotte's Matty Lamb 2 up, Miner Frederik Dreier defeated John Gough 2 up and Andreas Sorensen edged Charlotte's Seth Gandy 2 and 1.
