UTEP's football game at Rice has been canceled due to positive tests and contact tracing within the UTEP program.
A delay of the 11 a.m. kickoff for retesting was announced at 9:30 a.m., and the cancellation was announced at 11:25 a.m.
This is the first game UTEP has canceled for positive tests in its program. Three other games have been either postponed or canceled because of COVID issues in the opponent's program. The Miners had three previous rounds of testing this week without issues.
