The UTEP men's basketball team led almost the entire first half but went to intermission tied 31-31 with Ball State in the consolation semifinal of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic early Tuesday morning.
UTEP bolted to leads of 17-8 and 23-15, but trailed 31-29 before a Souley Boum drive tied it at 31-31 at the half.
Boum went to halftime with seven points but UTEP couldn't get Bryson Williams going, as he only had five points at halftime.
The Miners made two-thirds of their shots (14-21) but turned the ball over 14 times to Ball State's seven to keep the game tied at half.
