Playing against non-marquee opposition, the UTEP men's basketball team played down to their competition again and led Arkansas-Pine Bluff just 35-34 at halftime Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center.
They seemed to right their problems with a 19-4 run that put them ahead 31-18, but the Golden Lions charged back with a 16-4 run to close the half. That run included four 3-pointers.
Bryson Williams led UTEP with 10 points and Souley Boum added nine.
Pine Bluff shot 60 percent and outrebounded the Miners 15-8 but had 13 turnovers to UTEP's five.
