By the calendar, a college sports season should last about four months, but the work never ends.
As soon as the final buzzer sounds or timer stops, the off-season begins and the strength and conditioning staff becomes the de-facto head of the program.
That means right now Kevin Schadt, UTEP's Director of Strength and Conditioning, and his staff that includes six full-time coaches, has suddenly and unexpectedly taken charge of 250 student-athletes across 15 sports that just had off-season forced upon them by the coronavirus.
