Deion Hakins has been around long enough he had to stop and count when asked how many springs he's been through with the UTEP football team.
This is No. 4 for the Parkland alum, but in some ways this one is a little different. Last spring Hankins wasn't healthy, he was coming off surgery on his shoulder and as always had been the case, there was Ronald Awatt around to lead the running backs.
Now a fully healthy Hankins is the one veteran hand, the only tailback on the roster with more than four carries as UTEP looks to replace the production of Awatt and Rey Flores.
