UTEP figured out how to win a close game down the stretch: Take one of the biggest running starts in program history.
Trailing 54-30 with 14:45 left, the Miners bounced back from rock bottom with a stunning 17-point run in a stretch of 3:02, got the game to overtime and won 80-77 because UTSA couldn't stop Bryson Williams.
The junior scored 34 points and won a showdown with UTSA's Jhivvan Jackson, the nation's leading scorer, who had 29. Jackson had two shots to tie the game in the final 10 seconds, but the second one was blocked by Eric Vila.
