There are many reasons the UTEP football team began fall camp Friday with real optimism that has often been lacking, and is so often the case with a team expecting to make a leap, that begins under center.
Sophomore (sort of) Gavin Hardison is beginning his fourth year of college football, his third year at UTEP and his second year as a starter, and as encouraging as his first sophomore year was in 2020, there’s more he can do.
What Hardison’s already done is show special arm talent, leadership, composure — all the traits he’ll need to be the elite quarterback everyone around UTEP thinks he can be.
