The plan for UTEP's offensive line has faced unexpected changes and challenges, but the players are stepping up. Bret Bloomquist/El Paso Times
Under the best of circumstances, UTEP’s offensive line was going to begin the year as a work in progress.
These aren’t the best of circumstances.
That work in progress was supposed to be built around center Derron Gatewood and tackle Greg Long, the two veteran, proven blocks everything else could be stacked on.
They’re out now due to injuries.
What’s left is senior Jerrod Brooks, three first-time players and junior Ruben Guerra, who is a first-time center.
