If the UTEP men's basketball team is going to make the Conference USA tournament, it needs to start turning tough, fighting efforts into wins.
It needs to beat teams like the Charlotte squad that is coming to the Don Haskins Center at 7 p.m. Saturday.
With a 2-6 league mark, the 49ers are a half-game ahead of UTEP in the standings. They are worse overall (5-14), are 1-5 away from home and are coming off a 45-point loss at UTSA.
The Miners are supposed to win this game. That hasn't happened much this year, and if UTEP is going to pull itself back into the mix for a top 12 spot in C-USA, it needs to start Saturday.
