UTEP all-conference point guard Jamal Bieniemy has hired an agent and plans to turn professional, ending a standout two-year career with the Miners.
Under NCAA rules, he has until June 1 to change his mind and return for a final season of eligibility, but his intent is to play professionally at some level next season.
Bieniemy earned third-team all-conference this season, averaging 14.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game despite dealing with injuries late in the season. The 6-foot-5 combination guard was held out of UTEP's two games in The Basketball Classic in what was deemed precautionary.
