UTEP men's basketball team continued its strong play with an 79-59 win over NAIA opponent, Benedictine Mesa on Sunday at the Don Haskins Center.
The Miners (4-2) won their second straight game and are 3-0 at home this season. Sunday's meeting was the first-ever matchup between the Miners and Redhawks.
UTEP led by as much as 26, 62-36, in the second half and had a strong defensive effort for much of the game. The Redhawks were just 20 of 71 from the field and UTEP outrebounded the visitors 54-42.
The Miners had just eight turnovers in the game and 12 of the 13 players who played scored.
