There is an area where the UTEP men's basketball team has been consistent in the past two seasons: The Miners are good at beating bad teams.
The Miners found enough answers to keep that going against Florida International on Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center, overcoming 28 minutes of dreadful offense with determined defense and enough clutch plays late to earn a come-from-behind 77-68 victory.
The win, which improved UTEP to 6-8 in Conference USA, marked its first doubleheader sweep this season and dropped FIU to 2-12. UTEP has a three-game lead over Southern Miss with four to play in its race for the final spot in the C-USA tournament.
