When the UTEP men's basketball team commits itself to defending and finding center Bryson Williams, it has the potential to be a solid team.
Facing serious embarrassment in the second half Saturday night against a game Sul Ross State team starting three El Pasoans, a UTEP squad missing star point guard Jamaal Bieniemy figured that out just in time.
Rallying behind Williams and a career night from Souley Boum, UTEP used a 15-2 run at the midpoint of the second half to take the lead and won 84-65.
Boum finished with 34 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, Williams scored 26 points to go with 13 rebounds and the Miners used a 15-2 run midway through the second half to turn around a game where they trailed much of the first 27 minutes.
