The first task for the UTEP men's basketball team in the Joe Golding era is to develop an identity.
In a 73-64 road victory at Pacific, the Miners began to find one. They can play defense, they are tough and they have a pair of players who can score in Souley Boum and Jamal Bieniemy.
A 16-0 first-half run reversed an early deficit and UTEP answered everything Pacific threw at it after that as it moved to 3-1 on the year and vanquished some road demons.
The Miners held Pacific to 41-percent shooting and overcame 18 giveaways by forcing 15 turnovers.
