The UTEP men's basketball team's six-game winning streak came to an end, but their string of good basketball didn't in a 66-58 loss to first-place North Texas.
After leading most of the first half and taking a tie into the locker room, the Miners fell behind at the start of the second half and couldn't catch up in a loss that dropped them to 14-9 overall and 7-4 in C-USA. North Texas improved to a program-best 17-4 and 10-1 after capping a nine-game winning streak.
Jamal Bieniemy scored 15 first-half points as UTEP took a 27-27 tie to the locker room, but the Mean Green went on a 10-2 run early in the second half to establish a lead they maintained the rest of the way.
