The UTEP men's basketball team gave itself a wonderful chance at a rare road winning streak at Southern Miss on Friday night by excelling at the two aspects they preach: defense and taking care of the basketball for more than 39 minutes.
With a seven point lead in the final 46 seconds of regulation, the Miners lost that entirely, and lost an overtime game to the Golden Eagles, 74-66.
Losing road games is normal for UTEP, but this one was particularly painful.
After Jamaal Bieniemy hit a 17-footer with 1:08 remaining , the Miners were up 60-53 when everything fell apart.
