Reigning 100-meter hurdles world champion and world record holder Tobi Amusan, a UTEP alum, has been green-lighted to defend her world title after she was cleared of a failure-to-appear doping violation.
Amusan, who has never tested positive for banned substances, was charged by the Athletics Integrity Unit last month with missing three drug tests and suspended from the 2023 World Championships in Budapest pending an appeal to the sport's disciplinary tribunal.
She won that appeal and is cleared to compete in the meet, which begins Monday. After her provisional suspension Amusan vehemently defender herself on social media, posting, "I intend to fight this charge and will have my case decided by a tribunal of 3 arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships.
