ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO - The UTEP men's basketball team took big step forward under first-year coach Joe Golding on Sunday afternoon at the famous Pit against an old rival.
The Miners (5-4) played strong defense from start to finish and got big games from guards Keonte Kennedy and Souley Boum in defeating the Lobos (6-5), 77-69.
The Miners held UNM to just one field goal in the first 7:57 of the second half to extend its lead from 33-30 to 49-31.
