Now comes a rather hard to believe theory on the UTEP football team, but one that seems to be supported by all the evidence at hand.

The Miners were obliterated 40-16 Saturday by a Western Kentucky team that sure looked to be worse than them a few days ago, and for the second straight week, they didn't look ready to play.
To their credit they were shamed into a second-half rally. Seeing as not quitting is actually the one thing this team was competent at last year, winning a meaningless second half is not something that should be interpreted as progress.
