The first big day of the UTEP football team's spring will come Friday when they scrimmage in the Sun Bowl in front of officials.
"We'll have referees, it will be real football," was how coach Sean Kugler explained it to his team.
"We'll evaluate all three groups, all three quarterbacks," Kugler added. "We're down a few bodies, I'll monitor how long we go, how much work we can get."
Big start
One of the consistent standouts this spring has been tailback Trayvon Hughes, who is getting the first-team reps while Aaron Jones rehabs his injured foot (Jones is running and cutting on it in conditioning work).
