UTEP football notes: Miners QB situation in flux after Locksley injury

The aftermath of UTEP's 19-0 loss to UAB Saturday was too soon for coach Dana Dimel to know Kai Locksley's status going forward, but it wouldn't seem optimistic for next week against 1-7 Rice. The same goes for backup Ryan Metz.

Locksley reinjured his ankle in the second quarter and left for good. His ankle was retaped and he tried to walk on it, but he was limping badly and eventually put in a walking boot and given crutches.

"I just don't know yet," Dimel said.

Locksley missed three weeks and two games after injuring the same ankle against UTSA.
