UTEP Football: Miners finally start fall camp

The UTEP football team was noticeably shorthanded Sunday, but they finally started.

Aiming toward an unannounced Sept. 5 opener, the thrice delayed first day of practice arrived with two quarterbacks and minus the top two lines of the depth chart at running back, but it was a start.

"Missing this past week was a tough, tough thing, not only because we missed a week of training camp but the people we're planning on playing early were a full goal for the last seven, eight days," coach Dana Dimel said. "If you're a head coach and you're seeing everyone a full go and you're team is not because of the circumstances you're involved with, is something I'm concerned about.
