UTEP football goes bust in Las Vegas: Miners defense collapses against UNLV

The UTEP football team's merry-go-round hasn't been much fun for a while, it sure hasn't covered any ground and it took a rather rough spin Saturday in a 52-24 loss to UNLV.

This time the defense, acceptable last week against Northern Arizona, offered little resistance, giving up 277 first-half rushing yards while giving up six touchdowns and a field goal in the Rebels' first eight possessions. The Runnin' Rebels rode again.

The offense gave the quarterback carousel another spin, as Kai Locksley, who looked so good with his legs in the first two possessions when UTEP scored 10 points, couldn't make plays with his arms when UNLV adjusted and stacked the box.
