The Sun Bowl Association hosted its sixty-first WestStar Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational Dec. 21 and Dec. 22 at the Don Haskins Center. Alongside the UTEP Miners (8-4, 1-0 Conference USA), North Carolina A&T State (NC A&T) (5-8), Kent State (10-3) and New Mexico State University (NMSU) (7-5) all participated in the holiday tournament.
In 2021, Bradley University won the tournament after defeating UTEP 73-66. There, the Miners went 21 of 57 in field goals and six of 19 from the three-point line against Bradley. The most recent finals victory for the Miners came in 2019 after shooting past Wyoming in a 76-65 win with then UTEP Head Coach Rodney Terry still at the helm.
