The UTEP men's basketball team's road woes chased them across the ocean.
After leading most of the second half, the Miners crumbled down the stretch in their 67-63 loss to Hawaii in their opener at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Sunday night.
The Miners will play against Ball State in a consolation semifinal Monday night at 11:30 p.m. MST.
UTEP led 60-58 with 3:09 to go, but were outscored 9-3 the rest of the way as they missed four of their last five shots and suffered a turnover from Lordan Lathon when he slipped with 16 seconds to go and the Miners down 66-63.
